Blog #3 What is the difference between a designer’s resume vs. a non-designer’s resume.

A resume is a written compilation/summary of your education, experiences, credentials, skills and accomplishments that is used to apply for jobs. It is one of the most important pieces of any job application. It shows a potential employer that you are qualified for the position you are seeking. It is NOT a biography of everything you have done as the reviewing time is very short. The purpose of a resume is a way to get you an interview.

With that being said in my opinion the difference between and designer’s resume and a non-designer’s resume is basically the visual aspect of it.

A non-designer’s resume is more traditional and boring with no form of graphic art displayed. Usual just a white print paper with black type.

A designer’s resume however, is very different and unique to that potential employee. It allows that individual to use this 1st opportunity to showcase their creativity giving them that edge above competitors trying to get that interview.
