Personally, I believe communication to be the interactive and successful / effective transfer of data that has shared meaning, between parties.

Once there is no shared meaning of the data, i.e., once the data being transferred does not mean the same closest thing possible to both parties, leaving misunderstanding to take place, then there is no successful transfer.


If there is no successful transfer of the data, then communication has not taken place.

If there is no interaction, i.e., if the receiver cannot submit feedback to the sender, then communication has not taken place.
