Blog #2 question: In your opinion, what is the importance of planning before working on your artwork?
Firstly, to plan means to set out what one wants to achieve, to set out a specific way of achieving a certain objective. When doing anything, anything at all, it is imperative that planning is done! If you have a presentation, it is important to plan, if you an essay to write, it is important to plan. In particular, when it comes on to working on an art piece, it is imperative to plan because of several reasons:
When you plan:
- You know exactly want you want to set out to do; you know your objective.
- when you know your objective you'll know from there what approach to take next, you'll know whether the design should be loud and boisterous, or simplistic and quiet. You'll know exactly what the client wants the message to be.
- You can brainstorm how you want your design to look.
- ...rather than just opening up Photoshop or Illustrator and randomly crafting up ideas. - This wastes time and is not productive and can lead to you not giving the client what he/she asked for.
- It saves time and money.
- when you take the time to plan, when it comes to work time you'll know what to do. This saves time as you can meet deadlines better and earlier; and this saves money as well because when a designer misses a deadline, if they aren't fired, then they are paid less.
Planning in anything is integral to the success of it.
