    Editor's Corner

Greetings!
Wow, what a week! Adobe really stole the show with their announcement at MAX that the days of the Creative Suite will soon be over , and that going forward only Creative Cloud subscribers will have access to the newest versions of their apps. Some folks are very upset at the notion of being dependent on subscription-only software. Others see tremendous value in the package of apps and services that Adobe has put together. Whatever your opinion, one thing's for sure: this week marks the end of an era and the start of a new one. Will the Creative Cloud become the new normal? Or will other companies step up and woo customers away with alternatives? It's going to be fascinating to watch this story unfold, so stick with CreativePro for a front-row seat. By the way, if you missed the Adobe MAX keynote presentations, you can still watch the replay of these momentous announcements.
Also, in our first detailed look at the updated Creative Cloud apps, Cristen Gillespie showed us what's new in Illustrator CC.
Meanwhile, here's what else is new at CreativePro this week:
Properly set fractions are one of the hallmarks of professional-grade typography, but what's the best way to go about creating them? In her latest TypeTalk article, Ilene Strizver takes you through the process and offers some shortcuts.
If you're a fan of ambigrams, those fiendishly clever bits of lettering that read the same upside down as right-side up, don't miss the excerpt from the book Ambigrams Revealed . In it, one artist describes his process for designing ambigrams from the initial sketch to the finished product.
Our social media guru Dave Awl was back with a whole new set of Pinterest Pointers, including tips and tricks, plus a review of several new features.
This week's 10 Essential Tips focused on Camera Raw, an important tool that's only only going to get more popular now that Photoshop CC users will be able to apply Camera Raw adjustments as a filter.
In the news, we saw Adobe (yeah, them again) unveil two new pieces of hardware: a Creative Cloud-connected stylus and a digital ruler. In non-Adobe news we had business tips for freelancers and an amusing website devoted to collecting design jargon b.s.
Enjoy!

20130508-cool   Sure, USB drives are inevitably going the way of the floppy, the CD, the DVD, and every other non-cloud based digital storage medium, but they aren't quite dead yet. And no matter how smooth and secure your cloud solution is, there's no way it's half as cool or geektastic as this is Iron Man Mark 8GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive. Just ask Tony Stark.
